Matisse Fish Bowls

First grade students looked at the works of Henri Matisse.  Goldfish Bowls by Matisse inspired our paintings.   Students began by drawing a fish bowl sitting on a table.  The table was drawn curved to show depth.  Students then learned how to draw fish, sea weed and pebbles or rocks for the bottom of the bowl.  Students used oil pastel for the objects inside the fish bowl.  Watercolor created the water.  Tempera paint was used to paint the table and background.  The fishbowls were created in the style of the student, all were very successful and colorful!
