Kids Art Fair

Thank you to the families that attended our annual Kids Art Fair.  A very special thank you to the KME families who supported the arts by purchasing their students art work.  The money raised by this fundraiser allows your child the opportunity to do clay, glazes and other fun projects in our art room.  Whether this work graces your walls or was given as a gift, please know your purchase was greatly appreciated!

Kids Art Fair

Sending in your student's R.S.V.P. slip provides permission for your students' work to be hung.  There is no obligation to purchase your students' work.  Bring your camera and photograph your student holding their framed art work proudly!  The sale of each frame benefits the art room in supplies!  Support the arts and R.S.V.P. that your family will be joining us December 13th for our Kids Art Fair!

Tree Silhouettes

Second grade students created a silhouette of a tree for our Kids Art Fair show December 13th.  Students painted an abstract background of shapes, swirls and bulls eyes.  Ink was added to the paper and then blown with a straw to create a silhouette of a tree.  Inspired by the black silhouettes of trees at sunset, ink was blown out to create the smallest of branches.   

Woven Landscapes

Third grade students have created a landscape weaving for our Kids Art Fair December 13th.   We looked at Ted Harrison's landscapes (tedharrison.com/.)  We discussed the three parts of a landscape.  The background is the sky, the middle ground is the hills or mountains and the foreground is the subject in the front of the paper.   He broke the three parts of a landscape into multiple layers and showed values within each section.  The students painted a landscape.  The landscapes were then cut to create a weaving using small strips of paper.  

Funky Flowers

Fourth grade students created fun, funky flowers for our Kids Art Fair show, December 13th.  Students looked at flowers created by Georgia O'Keefe.  She focused on the flower, showing detail to the center of the flower and petals.  Inspired by her work, students created a large flower.  Some students found it easier to draw a variety of shapes, tracing lids for circles and rulers to create triangles.  To help the flower pop from the paper students had a variety of colors to choose from including fluorescent paint.  Students used fingers to create texture, outlined petals, even added polka dots to create their own unique, creative, fun, funky flowers!

Flower Vases

First grade students created flower vases for our Kids Art Fair show, December 13th.  The students began by creating warm and cool colored painted paper from a variety of painting tools.  Large flowers were created from cutting the painted paper into flower petal shapes.  Students painted the background with glitter paint, then created a curved or square table top from construction paper.  A vase was created by folding a rectangle in half to cut a symmetrical vase design.  Oil pastel was used to decorate the vase with patterns and line designs.  The large flowers were added to complete the vase.

Handprint Art

Kindergarten students created handprint art for our Kids Art Fair, December 13th.  Each student choose from a variety of animals, birds, insects, flowers and apples.  Students added details with thumb prints, finger prints and sharpies.  Each handprint art shows the creativity and individuality of each student.
