Out of this World Rockets!

Third grade created rocket ships that are out of this world!  Rockets were drawn symmetrically by folding a piece of paper and drawing half of a rocket.  After rubbing the other side of the rocket, students watercolored their rocket.  To show depth, students added a dark line of watercolor on the edge and then blended the space with watered down watercolor.  Sharpie was added to enhance the details.  Fire was created by blending yellow, orange and red finger paint.  Texture was created in the fire by scraping the paint over a textured table.  The sky was created by flicking white paint with a toothbrush on black paper.  Planets were added to the finished background.  Planets were blended with oil pastel showing light and dark shadows to create three dimensional spheres.  Spectacular...the only way to define the success of this rocket project!
